A Yemeni tribe executed one of its men and his lover for eloping and trying to marry without its approval, newspapers reported on Tuesday.
After he was rebuffed by tribal chiefs, the man eloped with his girl friend to his mother’s house outside the village in the central town of Abb in a bid to get married.
But tribal armed men chased them and forced them back to the village, where they were “executed” in public, the papers said, quoting an interior ministry statement.
