Russia orders US embassy to cut staff in response to sanctions

Russia's Foreign Ministry has announced that the United States Embassy in Moscow should reduce its staff to 455 by 1st September 2017.

This move is in response to the US Senate approving the expansion of economic sanctions against Russia.

In 2016, the United States had ordered sanctions against Russia that included the expulsion of 35 Russian diplomats.
