Russian seamen in Full Monty: Turn Indian beach blue

A group of Russian naval personnel have turned one of Karnataka’s pristine beach areas blue.

According to a report in the Times of India, some 120 Russian Naval crew aboard the Indian carrier INS Vikramaditya on a training mission got off at Karwar and lived up to every seaman cliché.

The report claims the Russians first went on a drinking spree on the roads of Karwar, even freely posing for pictures with journalists.

Then a group of about 50, decided to go for a swim, in the nude.

Such behavior is usually frowned upon in Karnataka, which unlike its more un-inhibited neighbour Goa, is not used to boisterous behavior on its beaches… or anywhere.

Many residents in Karwar, especially women, expressed that they were very uncomfortable with the Russian’s behaviour.

The locals however blamed the Indian Navy for not educating the Russians about acceptable behavioral norms in Karwar.

The police finally had to intervene and the Russians left the beach
