A Saudi court reversed the rule and ordered the Traffic Department to pay fine to a driver after it made a mistake in a penalty against him.

The court found that the Department in the capital Riyadh was negligent when it failed to cancel the driver’s ownership of a car financed by a bank although it was leased to other people, according to Sada newspaper.

It said the driver was surprised to find that many traffic offences were recorded against him after the car was leased to other drivers.

“The driver demanded SR1 million compensation but the court ordered the Traffic Department to pay him SR30, 000 (Dh30, 000),” it said.
