Shashi Tharoor, Sunanda Dubai wedding album

The former UN diplomat Shashi Tharoor married Sunanda Pushkar in August 2010, months after the couple were the focus of a cricket team ownership scandal that saw the minister quit the Indian Government.

The couple were married in the presence of his 94-year-old maternal grandmother, AFP quoted a witness as saying. The ceremony took place on the first day of Onam - the harvest festival celebrated by people of Kearla.

Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, and other guests at the wedding reception of Shashi Tharoor and Dubai-based Sunanda Pushkar held in Dubai.

The couple had tied the knot on August 22 at Shashi Tharoor’s 200-year-old ancestral home in Palakkad, Kerala.

The wedding is the third for both Tharoor and Dubai-based Sunanda Pushkar, who is of Kashmiri origin.

Soon after the wedding the couple threw a lavish reception party in Dubai.
