President Jacob Zuma has named nine new ministers in a cabinet shuffle he says will speed change in the lives of poor south Africans.
Zuma made the announcement at a news conference on Sunday, saying: "Government has to work at a faster pace to change the lives of the poor."
South African media had been speculating for weeks about a cabinet shuffle.
Zuma also added deputies in several ministries, including police, in a country where high levels of violent crime have been a political issue.
