13-year-old school girl molested by stepfather

A 13-year-old Sri Lankan schoolgirl, returning home from a store after buying some goods, was molested by her stepfather inside a brick factory in an isolated area, the ‘Sunday Mawbima’ reported.

Police revealed that the victim had been living with her mother and 28-year old stepfather in the workers’ quarters of the factory. The suspect was employed in the same factory as a labourer.

On hearing of the incident from her daughter, the suspect was arrested after the mother lodged a complaint with the police.

Man shot to death in sleep

Two youths have been arrested by police in Sri Lanka on suspicion of killing a father of two by gun fire while asleep inside a hut, ‘Sunday Mawbima’ reported.

A youth, who had gone to park his motorcycle near the hut on Saturday morning, informed police of having seen the dead man, who had been shot on the head, inside the hut.

Police investigations revealed that there was a dispute between the youths and the victim after attending a wedding recently.

The youth had taken revenge on him by shooting at his head  while he was asleep in the hut.
