Child suffocates to death on half a tablet
A one-and-a-half year old child suffocated to death in Sri Lanka on Friday after one half of a pain killer tablet got stuck in his throat, the ‘Mirror’ newspaper reported.
The child named Sadew Sankalpa, from Karawita in Chilaw, was rushed to a hospital but did not survive.
It was the child’s parents who gave him the pain killer tablet.
Indecent exposer convicted
A man in Sri Lanka who was convicted of exposing himself to a woman, was given a suspended sentence of five years by the Magistrate and Additional District Judge Ranga Wimalasena, ‘Lanka Cyber News’ reported.
The culprit, identified as BM from Huludagoda in Mount Lavinia, was also ordered to pay a sum of Rs10,000 to the woman, when the case was taken up for hearing on Friday.
BM was arrested after a complaint by the woman.
The sentence is to be increased by a further three months if the culprit avoids payment of the penalty imposed on him.
