Daughter keeps dad in cage [video]

Colombo - A man (73), who was confined in a dog’s cage for several years, was rescued by the Balagolla police last week and his only daughter (42) and a mother of three, has been arrested, local media reported.

When a team of police officers deployed on duty in Balagolla area received a tip-off, that an old man has been caged, Inspector G. K. Pushpakumara visited a particular home and after lengthy questioning the woman, they were surprised to find the victim in a cage in a corner of her garden.

The woman accepted that the caged victim was her father and she said that he was caged because he urinates, spits, makes the house unclean and therefore, cannot be kept in the house as her children fall sick.

When asked about the dogs, she told the police they were inside the house.

After rescuing the man from the cage, police arrested the daughter and later admitted the man to hospital.

Investigations revealed that the victim had been a hotel worker and his wife was presently employed abroad.
