Drunk father stabs son; drunk son kills father

Colombo: A young man was admitted to the intensive care unit of a Karapitiya hospital after a brawl with his father in Kulunu Kanda area, police said.

Police said the drunk father, 42, was arrested for seriously stabbing his son, 23, at home after a heated argument, ‘Lankadeepa’ reported.

A police officer revealed that there were frequent arguments between the two whenever the suspect returns home drunk.

Habaraduwa police are investigating the case.

Colombo: A man was arrested by the Crimes Unit of Tangalle Police on suspicion of killing his father with a gun in the Beliatta police division.

The men fled and hid in Dodanduwa area in Galle with the weapon, ‘Mawbima’ reported.

The 53-year-old victim was a resident of Nakulugamuwa, Galagama in Dickhena.

The suspect, 24, was the youngest son of the victim and was arrested on a tip-off received by Tangalle police.

The suspect confessed to harassing his family members after getting drunk and then shot his father dead.

The police will produce the suspect before court.
