A fake Sri Lankan doctor cheated a young mother and her daughter by claiming to have cured them of ‘severe ill luck’ and persuading the woman to pawn her gold necklace for Rs15,000 to pay his fees, ‘Gossip C Lanka’ has reported.

The culprit, who had been traveling through a village selling medicinal oils while introducing himself as a mystic and a skillful traditional doctor, told the victims he could remove their bad luck by applying his magic oils on their bodies to which they agreed.

After some days, he had returned with some oil and asked the mother to come alone covering her body with a white cloth to his room where he applied oil all over her body and repeated the same on her 18-year-old daughter.

Later, he had told the woman that her gold necklace was the cause of her bad luck and asked her to pay his fee by pawning it for Rs15,000.

The woman, who thought that the culprit had removed her bad luck, paid the money by pawning the necklace.

A few days later, the woman realized that the ‘doctor’ had cheated them and demanded return of her money and threatened to lodge of police complaint if he did not.

The culprit immediately paid their money and threw them out of his house.

It had been revealed that the fake doctor had been remanded earlier for selling illicit brew.
