Family keeps old man in chicken nest for 8 years

Colombo: A 70-year-old man was forced to live in a chicken nest for eight years by his family.

According to a report in ‘Lankadeep’, police received a tip-off saying that the unmarried elderly person was forced to live in a box by his nephew.

Police discovered him in a box measuring 9ft long and 4ft wide.

The family said they had kept him there due to his addiction to smoking. But they did take care of him. He was served food on time and even a wheel-chair was provided as he could not walk, they claimed.

Police advised the family to take him back into their home.
