Father abandons toddler on road at night

Colombo: A man who quarreled with his wife took their one-and-a-half-year-old child and left her on the main road at 3am.

Media reports quoted police sources as saying that a couple living nearby heard the toddler’s cries and stepped out to find the child abandoned in the middle of the road in the wee hours.

They alerted police, who found that the child belonged to a couple residing in the slum nearby.

Police say the father of the child is at large.
