Jilted woman soldier leaps to her death

Colombo: A 24-year-old woman soldier committed suicide by leaping from the tenth floor of Narahenpita Army Hospital after her boyfriend rejected her, ‘Lankadeepa’ reported.

An army staff sergeant informed police that a woman soldier, who was attached to the Narahenpita Army Hospital, had committed suicide by leaping from the tenth floor of the building. When police arrived at the scene, they found her dead near a tree near. Victim’s father identified the body.

It was revealed that the woman had called a colleague saying “I’ll never disturb him anymore. I love him very much” before she jumped to her death.

The magistrate granted permission to her relatives to bury the body at Tennahena burial grounds in Gilimale.
