Colombo: A 11-month-old baby lost his life in a freak accident when a lime stick got stuck in his throat.
According to a report in Lankadeep, the child was playing with the stick when he put it in his mouth.
The infant identified as PHMS Batheesa, from Palamure, Miyadurupola, Warakapola, was rushed to the Warakapola Base Hospital but succumbed to the injury shortly.
Medical Superintendent of the hospital Dr. Upul Wijenayake said that the child was admitted to the hospital in serious condition at about 5.10 pm.
The baby died around 5.40 pm. A specialist doctor did remove the lime stick.
