A mother has been arrested by Sri Lankan police for concealing the rape of her 10-year-old daughter by her brother (child’s uncle), the ‘Lanka Hot News’ has reported.

The Grade V victim’s uncle, who had been accompanying her from school towards her home, had taken her into the shrub near a lake’s bund and sexually molested her.

The culprit is also alleged to have threatened the girl, saying he would kill her and her mother if she revealed the incident to anyone.

The victim reported the incident to her class teacher, who informed the mother through the school principal but as the mother concealed it, a neighbour had tipped off the police.

School girls scratch boys’ names on their hands

A group of schoolgirls injured themselves by scratching their boyfriends’ names on their hands with jacket pins, the ‘Mawbima’ has reported.

Eleven schoolgirls from a school in Rathmalgangawewa, who will sit for O-level examination in December this year, scratched the boys’ names on their left hand.

They had done the same thing on October 11 and police had investigated the matter.

A schoolgirl of the same school had scratched the name of her ex-boyfriend with a jacket pin on her left hand after she broke up with him. The other girls then imitated her action until blood trickled.

The principal had severely warned the girls after calling them to his office.
