Mom kills baby born with cleft lip

Colombo: A new mother in Sri Lanka, who was unhappy with her child, allegedly killed the infant, ‘Mawbima’ reported.

According to Nivithigala police, the woman was frustrated that her baby was born with a cleft lip, so she allegedly dumped her one-month-old infant in a barrel of water.

Residents of the area found the baby in the water barrel used for bathing.

Reportedly, the woman was frustrated as the baby could not suckle and had to be bottle-fed.

Investigations continue.
