Movie director Spielberg coming to Lanka
As part of his vacation around the world, Hollywood director Steven Spielberg will visit Sri Lanka this year, taking some time off, following the success of his latest film ‘Lincoln.’
The ‘Colombo Gazette’ newspaper reported that he will be sailing around the world with his family.
Last month, he took home two Oscars for his drama about former US President Abraham Lincoln.
In May, he and his wife Kate Capshaw will set sail on their $200 million yacht named ‘Seven Seas’ which has a movie theatre, spa and anti-seasickness system.
During the 30,000-mile trip, the pair will revisit some of Spielberg’s favourite places such as Hawaii where he shot ‘Jurassic Park’ and Sri Lanka where a part of ‘Indiana Jones’ was filmed .
“We are not expecting to see him during the summer,” an aide at his production company Amblin Entertainment told the ‘New York Post’ newspaper.
When ‘Indiana Jones’ was shot in Sri Lanka, Spielberg worked with Sri Lankan film director Chandran Ratnam whom he referred to as “our most valued friend in the Far East.”
