SRI LANKA: A woman had been admitted to Anuradhapura Teaching Hospital on Monday (13) evening after she was hacked with a sword by her paramour, while returning home after work on a motorcycle with her two children, ‘Mawbima’ reported.

Anuradhapura police have commenced investigations to apprehend the suspect stating that the suspect had fled after attacking her at Basawakkulama area in the ancient sacred city of Anuradhapura and the victim, who had an extramarital affair with the suspect, was employed as a supervisor in a cleaning service agency.

Police said that the victim’s husband has been sentenced for 20-years rigorous imprisonment over charges of shooting a trishaw driver dead about 10-years ago and she had been carrying out the extramarital affair with the suspect for several years.

There had been complaints about disputes between the two with exchange of blows, police said.

When she was attacked, her two children, who traveled in the motorcycle, had been out of danger and the vehicle she traveled has been taken to police custody.

Investigations continue.
