Police hunt mobile phone abuser

Colombo: An investigation is being conducted by Dankotuwa police to arrest man who contacted a 17-year-old girl through mobile phone and fled after sexually abusing her, ‘Mawbima’ reported.

The victim, a resident of a remote village in Dankotuwa, was employed in a garment factory after she left her schooling mid-way.

She received a missed call on her mobile phone and when she called back the number, the person on the other side had told her that it was a mistake. He then called her again to get her details.

Thereafter, he had been calling her many times. She fell in love with the unknown callee and both started having a long distance relationship.

She expressed her feeling to the caller but he never said how he felt about her. She overlooked that aspect and trusted him.

When the stranger asked her to come to meet him, she took leave from work and went to visit him in Colombo. After they met, he forced her to stay the night in a hotel.

The accused then exploited her sexually and left her in the hotel room.

She returned home and told what had happened to her mother who lodged a complaint at the police.

Teenage boy record woman bathing

A 15-year-old teenager boy was ordered to be kept at Makola Detention Centre by Negombo Chief Magistrate Ruchira Weliwatta for secretly filming a 22-year-old young woman bathing, ‘Mawbima’ reported.

The suspect was a resident of Thisarigaskattuwa area, who had secretly recorded the young woman daily, when she was inside her bathroom.

As the footage was being viewed by several others, the news spread about the boy. The young woman's mother then laid a trap for the accused.

She asked her daughter to bathe in the bathroom as usual, while she was hiding outside. The suspect climbed up on a pipe to the bathroom window and as he was about to record, the woman caught him red-handed and was taken to the police.

The court ordered that the suspect be produced before a psychiatrist and submit a report at the next hearing.

Negombo police are investigating.

Child born from dead mother's womb

The doctors at Mahamodara hospital succeeded in delivering a child from a dead mother through caesarian surgery after woman died in an accident in Galle, ‘Lankadeepa’ reported.

When the victim was being brought to Mahamodara Maternity Hospital for delivery, their vehicle had met with an accident at Samudra Avenue.

The woman was rushed to the hospital, within 10 minutes the doctors conducted surgery saving the fetus' life.

The victim was a 25-year-old young woman identified as, Chandrika Priyadarshani, a resident of Magala North in Uragasmanhandiya.

Police has arrested the bus driver and the trishaw driver.

Traffic Division of Galle police is conducting further investigations.
