Potatoes containing abortion drugs...
Colombo: Customs officials seized 30,000 vials of a drug used for abortions, inside a container of potatoes.
The consignment was imported from Pakistan and confiscated on Saturday, ‘Mirror’ reported.
A Pakistani national has been arrested by the customs for importing the drugs worth around Rs30 million [Dh0.9m].
Officers of the Customs Revenue Monitoring Unit were surprised to find the drugs when inspecting a container listed as containing potatoes.
A total of three containers of potatoes was inspected by the Unit since last Monday and officials discovered 15 bags containing vials of the prohibited drug in one of the containers.
