Colombo - Three suspects, who were induced by a young woman to gang-rape her brother’s 14-year-old girlfriend, have been arrested by Meetiyagoda Police, ‘Mawbima’ reported.

The main suspect, who attempted to flee the country, has been arrested at the Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) Police.

Police investigations disclosed that the underage girl had become a victim of the rape, after her boyfriend’s sister, who had a personal grudge against the victim, got the men to attack her.

The rape suspects arrested are a 30-year-old father of three, a person named ‘Channa Putha’, aged 22 and a 25-year-old fisherman.

Special police teams have been deployed to arrest another suspect.

The victim told the police that on the evening of that day, her boyfriend’s sister had come to her home at Ambagaha Junction in Batapola and called to her to see her brother, saying he had drunk poison.

After taking the victim to Ambalangoda town she tried to lodge her in a hotel but the owner refused to accommodate them as the girl was underage.

Thereafter, she was taken to another room where four suspects entered the room and gang-raped her.

Meetiyagoda Police are investigating.
