Sri Lanka opens new embassy in Bahrain

Sri Lanka is looking at the possibility of a trade agreement with Bahrain following the opening of a new embassy there, ‘The Sunday Leader’ reported.

Director General of Public Communication for the Ministry of External Affairs Rodney Perera said Sri Lanka is keen on closer engagement between the two countries.

There are an estimated 25,000 Sri Lankans in Bahrain.

Perera added that the new embassy could lead to future investment and trade agreements.

After the embassy was officially opened on May 30, Ambassador R. M. A. Rajakaruna took up duties in the presence of  Deputy Minister of External Affairs Neomal Perera.
