Sri Lankan youth's gruesome fate at 'Mini World's End'

Colombo: Sri Lanka boasts a tourist site known as the ‘Mini World’s End’.

It is an observation post that offers a panoramic view and overlooks a drop of around 400 feet in the Knuckles Wildlife Sanctuary.

Sri Lanka also has a site called the ‘World’s End’ at Horton Plains National Park – which is the real thing.

However, for one youth, tragically, the mini version was to be the end.

The place is called “Mini world’s end” as it resembles a smaller version of the “world’s end” drop situated at Police in the Ududumbara district reported that the unmarried youth aged 22 jumped to his death from the Mini World’s End.

According to a report in the ‘Divaina’ the site has seen a rash of suicides with a young woman also recently jumping to her death from here.

The youth’s parents old the police that their son was suffering from an illness and on the day of the incident, left a letter stating that due to his illness, he was going to commit suicide by leaping over the ‘Mini World’s End’.
