14-year-old was raped by her brother-in-law over a long time

A 14-year-old Sri Lankan girl, who got pregnant after being raped by her elder sister’s husband over a long time, gave birth to an infant in her home on Saturday night, the ‘Mawbima’ reported.

The girl had been left at her sister’s house by her parents who were employed in Colombo.

Both sisters kept the matter secret after the suspect threatened them.

In her statement to the police, the elder sister said their father has been jailed for some incidence while their mother was employed in a house in Colombo and that her husband was totally responsible for the younger sister’s pregnancy.

The suspect is absconding.

Mom, daughter jump into well, die

A 43-year-old Sri Lankan woman, who was missing from her home, has been found drowned in an isolated well along with her 10-year old daughter, the ‘Lankadeepa’ said.

The deceased were identified as Nirosahini Pathiraja and her daughter as Samadhi Saddhanjali Karunaratne, who was a Grade 5 student  in Anuradhapura.

Police found the bodies after getting an emergency call from a woman.

Police say it is seems to be a case of suicide. She had made a call to her husband around 3.40 pm before going missing from home.

Her husband Thilakaratne told police that his wife had called him to say that she could no longer live with him and she wanted to take some decision.
