Teen girl ends life after parents' 'no' to marriage

Refused permission to marry her Italian teacher, a 15-year-old Sri Lankan girl living in Messina, Italy committed suicide by hanging herself, the ‘Mirror’ newspaper reported.

The deceased was the daughter of a Sri Lankan couple who migrated to Italy 20 years ago. She went to Italy about one and a half years ago.

The parents disapproved of the girl’s love affair with her 19-year-old teacher.

Her dead body will be brought to Sri Lanka after the postmortem. It is now kept in a hospital in Messina.
