Trishaw collides with motorbike: Mum pregnant with twins killed

Colombo – A 20-year-old pregnant mother, who was travelling on a motorcycle with her husband to eat food, died in an accident near Dolakanda Lake in Dehiattakandiya, ‘Mawbima’ reported.

The doctors and the staff at Dehiattakandiya hospital had made every attempt to rescue the twin children in her womb, but failed.

The victim had been identified as, Niroshani Rajapaksha, a resident of Thuwaragala and her husband, D. M. Danushka (22), has been admitted to the hospital with a fractured leg.

As they were travelling on the motorcycle near the lake towards the town, a speeding trishaw from opposite direction collided with the motorcycle.  The police later arrested its driver.

Investigations continue.
