Bathiya and Santhush, one of the biggest musical acts to hit the Sri Lankan musical scene since the 70s, will perform on the eve of UAE National Day at Global Village on Wednesday.
The duo who have been mixing English and Sinhalese lyrics in their originals will be performing at the World Culture Stage from 9pm at the Global Village. The free concert with Global Village park admission of Dh10 is supported by SriLankan airlines.
Bathiya and Santhush have been credited with the achievement of revolutionising Sri Lanka's pop music industry and pioneering a truly Sri Lankan brand of pop with global appeal.
They are the first Sri Lankan musical act to release an internationally distributed album and receive overseas awards for their musical talent.
Performing alongside Bathiya and Santhush will be Ashanthi dubbed the 'Queen' of Sri Lankan Hip Hop music. She is the youngest and only female from the island nation to be signed to an internationally recognized record label (Universal Music).
Touring the globe, wowing audiences worldwide on stages from the Sydney Opera House to the Millennium Dome in London, the Cannes Film Festival in France and beyond, Ashanthi has made her mark in the industry as a female music icon of Sri Lanka
