Three hit-and-run culprits held in capital
Abu Dhabi Police have arrested the three motorists involved in as many hit-and-run cases over the past two weeks.
The culprits who fled the scene after causing the separate accidents in which one man died, were caught within two hours of causing the accidents, a senior police official said, adding that it is futile and immoral to flee the accidents scenes as the entire city is covered by surveillance cameras.
"The first run-over accident was caused by a 22 year-old Emirati. It led to the death of a 34-year-old Filipino," said Major Sultan Al Ameri, director of the traffic intelligence department.
The traffic investigators, says Al Ameri, managed to gather information and particulars of the vehicle number plates from the scene and through the surveillance cameras and nabbed the culprits within two hours.
The seconf of the three accidents was caused by an Asian, who rammed into a parked car, causing moderate injuries to another Asian, while the third accident caused serious injuries to the victim, revealed Al Amiri, adding that both the culprits fled the scene and were arrested shortly.
