Top Indian school opens its gates to students in Dubai

One of India’s most reputed schools, Springdales, is now open to students in Dubai.

Following a CBSE curriculum, the school will be initially admitting students from kindergarten to grade 5, with plans to soon open up admission to higher grades as well.

“We are open for admissions now. You can register your child online,” a receptionist at the school told this website.

Indicating that applications are being screened, the receptionist did not mention a waiting list - something that most established schools in Dubai boast of.

Many parents, looking for Indian education in the city, have started registering their children for the new academic year that begins in April.

“My little one starts school this year and I’m happy that we now have Springdales. I was considering other Indian schools but this will be my choice. Hope they live up to their reputation,” said Vinay Jha, an Indian expat living and working in Dubai.

However, parents of children in higher grades will have to wait for another year as ongoing admissions are only limited to grade 5. “It’s only until grade 5 but we hope to open the new wing (for grade 6 to grade12) next year,” said the school executive.

The fee starts at Dh17,000 for kindergarten and goes up to Dh30,000 for grade 11 and 12.

“I believe they are reasonably priced. There are cheaper options available in Dubai but this school is one of the good ones in India so I don’t mind paying a bit more,” said another parent, who is planning to move out his daughter from her current school to Springdales.

A popular website ranks one of the branches of Springdales School (Dhaula Kuan in New Delhi) as the fifth best school in its home country.

A country-wide survey by Education World-C fore last year put the same branch at number seven. The parameters of the poll included academic reputation and infrastructure, the quality of extra curricula and sports education as well as friendliness to the disabled and competence and welfare of the faculty.

The survey put Delhi’s Vasant Valley as the best school in the country, followed by Valley School Bangalore. Shri Ram School was limited to the third spot, which was also shared by Cathedral and John Connon School, Mumbai.
