Traffic under control in Sharjah

Traffic jams have come down considerably from the chaos of first two days of closing the Al Khalidia and Sharjah bridges, as Anjad patrols and instruction signboards installed by (Department of Public works) have helped divert traffic.

According to Khaleej Times, Ahmed bin Darweesh, Director of Anjad, said that the traffic situation is better now than the first two days following the partial closure of the vital bridges in the emirate.

Attributing the change to intensified patrols at the congested areas he said that most of the motorists are now aware of the work on the bridges and they take other options.

An official from the Department of Public Works said that the work will be completed according to the schedule before Eid.

The right lanes of both the bridges are open and are being used by motorists form Al Aruba Road towards Al Khan and the left lanes will be closed for three weeks in the first phase.

The department has installed instruction signboards on Al Ittihad and Emirates roads to direct motorists to alternative routes.
