At least 17 flights arriving into Sharjah Airport on Sunday were diverted to Fujairah and Al Ain airports due to fog, with similar conditions expected to affect arrivals on Monday as well.
In a statement to Al Khaleej Newspaper, Ali Salem Al Madfa’a, Chairman of Sharjah International Airport stated the affected flights on Sunday were arriving between 4am and 7.30am.
Al Madfa’a confirmed the rerouting of those flights occurred because of dense fog and bad weather.
He further stated that hew anticipated that there would be a chance for fog formation once again, which will last until Monday morning that would require the authority to divert some flights during this period to other airports.
Meanwhile, Sheikh Faisal Bin Saud Al Qasimi, Director of Sharjah International Airport Authority urged all travellers through Sharjah airport to arrive at the airport with sufficient time before their flight.
