UAE soldiers were in the vanguard of Coalition forces that liberated Aden from the Iranian-backed Houthis and their allies during a lightning offensive in July, a Yemeni resistance leader was reported on Wednesday as saying.

“UAE soldiers were at the forefront of the troops and fighters who liberated Aden.

"They set a great example in military activity through planning and fighting.

"The offensive on Aden was a shock to the coup forces,” said Lutfi Muneer, a resistance field commander who participated in the attack on Aden.

“I was involved in the offensive along with other coalition troops and resistance fighters.

"I saw with my own eyes what those brave soldiers from the UAE were doing. I can tell you that they were a crucial factor in liberating Aden and other southern cities and towns from those bloody gangs,” he told the UAE daily 'Emarat Al Youm'.

The paper quoted Yemeni military experts as saying the UAE decision to replace its troops in Yemen is in line with military tradition worldwide.

“This move is part of military laws worldwide and is designed to define duties and tasks as well as the legitimate rights of the soldiers,” Brigadier Mohsen Khasroof said.

Another expert said the troop replacement was also prompted by the development of battles on the ground, mainly geographic developments.

“The battle in Aden is different from the battle in Marib and in Taiz.

"It will be different from the battle in Sanaa.

"Such developments require the forces to bring in troops that can adapt to the geographical characteristics of cities,” said Abdul Salam Mohamed, director of the Yemeni studies and research centre.
