Video: Camels tortured before slaughter

Workers at a Saudi slaughterhouse were caught on camera torturing camels before were to be slaughtered by using long sticks to lash them on the head.

A YouTube film published by 'Anhaa' newspaper showed several workers armed with sticks hitting the camels on the mouth and head as the animals writhed in pain.

The paper said viewers of the video expressed anger at the act at the slaughterhouse in the Western Makkah town and called on authorities to punish those responsible.

It quoted officials who saw the film as saying they have warned the investors about such actions and asked them to sack those workers.
