If you are planning to study in the United States and are clueless about how to get a student visa, then log on to Twitter on Thursday to get the complete lowdown.

US consular officer Laura Stein will log on for a webchat on Thursday at 1300 UTC (5pm UAE time).

Heidi Arola, who oversees EducationUSA, a network of hundreds of advising centres in 170 countries, will host the chat.

The official Twitter handle of US Embassy Abu Dhabi also made the announcement on the social media network with this statement; “For #UAE students: Do you have questions on student visas? Get answers at https://share.america.gov

“Although there is a perception among international students that it’s difficult to get a visa to study in the United States,” Stein said, “numbers show that the majority of students, in fact, are qualified and do receive student visas.”

According to Arola, consulates and embassies expedite scheduling for student visa appointments. “You can typically get an appointment in just two days to two weeks,” she said.

As a warm-up, take a look at other ShareAmerica resources on visas and studying in the US, then bring your questions and join the interactive webchat on Thursday.
