An 87-year-old widow in Singapore has left $30 million [Dh88m] home and all its contents to a tour guide she met in China in 2008.
Her niece is now in a legal battle to claim ownership of the assets, according to a report in Asiaone.
In the will, the woman says she has “bequeathed her home and all its contents including paintings and art collections” to the 40-year-old tour guide.
The elderly woman had been living with her friend and had hired the young man as their personal guide for China trip.
His wife and kids -living in the house since last year – have been asked to leave by the woman’s niece.
It is reported that the man had moved in with the old woman in 2009 and allegedly took advantage of the old woman’s feelings. Her niece claims that her aunt was diagnosed with dementia last year.
However, the man’s wife claims that he was taking care of the old woman’s needs.
In an earlier will the octogenarian had stated that she wanted a charitable trust set up in her late husband’s name. He passed away in 2007. The couple had no children.
