26 dead, 56 injured in Haiti road mishap

At least 26 people were killed and 56 injured in a massive pile-up along a road on the outskirts of Port-au-Prince, officials said ON Tuesday.

The accident late Monday took place on a road connecting the capital city with the nearby town of Delmas, according to police official Will Dimanche.

"It's the worst accident we've ever experienced in our city," Dimanche said.

Officials said about 10 cars, including some taxi cabs, were completely destroyed in the accident, which occurred late Monday.
