A 6.2 magnitude quake hit Russia's far eastern coast of Kamchatka early Monday, the US geological survey reported but regional officials said there was no damage.

The quake struck at 9:43 am (2143 GMT) on the coast of the Kamchatka peninsula, about 400 kilometres (250 miles) northeast of regional capital Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky, at a depth of 9.3 kilometres, the USGS said.
A spokeswoman of the Kamchatka region's emergency situations ministry told AFP that there was no damage from the quake, whose epicenter was 50 kilometres south of the nearest village, Ust-Kamchatsk.
She gave a magnitude of 6.4 and said the quake's depth was 33 kilometres.
