A special needs child who swallowed a pair of nail scissors had a miraculous escape after it lodged in his throat leaving only minor cuts before emergency medical service doctors removed it.

The 12-year-old child, Curtis Francis, who suffers from learning difficulties and has no sense of danger, put the scissors handle down into his throat when his mother’s back was turned, reported Daily Mail.

His mother, Karon Edwards, noticed the incident only when the boy started coughing blood and making distressed noises as he doesn’t speak.

She immediately dialed emergency number 999.

As luck would have it, the position of the scissor that got lodged in his throat did not block the airway.

Emergency services rushed him to the Bristol Royal Infirmary where doctors removed the scissors under general anesthetic.

The report says even doctors were surprised to find him without any permanent damage as only minor cuts were spotted in the throat.

A multi-needs child, Edwards said her son cannot be left alone even for a moment since he doesn’t understand danger.
