Authorities say a Delta flight to Tampa, Florida, returned to Detroit Metropolitan Airport about an hour after departing and a disruptive passenger was removed from the plane.

Delta Air Lines spokesman Kent Landers said flight 1721 left the Detroit airport in Romulus about 7.30pm on Friday and returned about an hour later.

FBI spokeswoman Sandra Berchtold said the female passenger’s behaviour concerned the crew, but she wasn’t being a threat.

Berchtold said the passenger wasn’t arrested but wouldn’t be allowed back on the plane.

Berchtold said she couldn’t describe the disruption or release further details about the passenger.

Landers said the Airbus A320 was carrying 138 passengers and 5 crew. It departed for Tampa again later.
