Girl kills father who tried to rape her

In a horrific incident in Chennai, a teenager killed her 58-year-old father when he allegedly tried to rape her

The daughter tried to resist her father, who is an alcoholic, but When he was out of control, the girl stabbed him four times over to death, reports Indian news channel NDTV.

The 19-year-old victim of sexual assault is now behind bars and is likely to be charged with murder, sAy Indian police officials.

A social activist told the news channel, laws meant to protect an act of crime committed in self defence should play its role even before the trial begins.

"If the young woman defended herself against her father who tried to rape her, then she should not have been arrested in the first place according to me," Vidya Reddy, a women's right activist told the channel.
