At least six flights to the gulf sector were delayed this morning following severe shortage of emigration personnel at the Nedumbassery International airport, reports PTI.

Airport sources said there was severe shortage of emigration personnel at the counters due to which clearance of travel documents was taking time.

Some emigration personnel had gone on medical leave and at least six had been deputed to the Kozhikode airport for Haj duties, which resulted in the shortage.

A meeting of top officials of the airport, emigration personnel is on to sort out the issue.

Further information is awaited on the status of flight departures.

Outbound flights are said to be fully booked as Indians return to their workplaces in Gulf cities after celeberating Eid with families and relatives.
