Sotheby's said on Wednesday it would next month auction watches once owned by the late German chancellor Konrad Adenauer and by India's first president.

A statement said heirs of Adenauer, who died in 1967, were putting an  18-carat gold Rolex up for sale at a Sotheby's auction scheduled for November 13 in Geneva.

The wrist watch, which had been given to Adenauer in 1955 by an unnamed  donor, bears the engraved name of the late chancellor and is estimated at between 48,000 euros (ê66,000) and 66,000 euros.

During the same November 13 auction, a rare 1948 Rolex Oyster Perpetual, gifted to India's first president Rajendra Prasad on the occasion of the inauguration of the Republic of India on January 26 1950, will also go on sale.
