Man divorces wife for cockerel's death

An Arab man divorced his wife in Ajman after blaming her for negligence that caused the death of his pet cockerel, the press reported on Sunday.

The unnamed husband has asked his wife to help him in looking after the cock which had bought and placed in a cage in the back garden.

"On that day, he went out and asked his wife to look after the bird…his wife promised to do," said Umm Rashid, an Ajman-based lawyer.

"When he returned home, he found the cockerel dead in the cage…he blamed his wife for the bird’s death and immediately divorced her."
