Man wins Dh200,000 damages against car dealer

The Federal Supreme Court (FSC) ordered a car dealer to pay Dh200,000 in damages to a man who had a road accident because of manufacturing defects in his newly bought vehicle, a newspaper said on Thursday.

The unnamed plaintiff had demanded Dh50 million after suffering from permanent disability in his right fingers due to the accident on the road between Abu Dhabi and Dubai, the Sharjah-based Alkhaleej said.

A court in Abu Dhabi had earlier ordered the dealers to pay him Dh200,000 but an appeals court annulled that sentence, prompting him to resort to FSC.

“The FSC ordered the dealers to pay him Dh200,000 in damages on the basis of a medical report,” the paper said.
