North Korea is destabilising region: US

 The top US military officer says a report that North Korea is stepping up its nuclear programme is more evidence of the country's belligerent behavior.

Adm Mike Mullen, who is the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, says North Korea seems to be continuing on a path toward destabilising the region.

An American nuclear scientist who recently visited North Korea says he was taken to a small industrial-scale uranium enrichment facility and told that low-enriched uranium was being produced for a new reactor.

Mullen told CNN's 'State of the Union' that such activities would violate UN security resolutions.
