Army spokesman says security forces killed six militants in clashes in Matta area of Pakistan's Swat valley.

Major Mushtaq Ahmed said a group of militants attacked security checkpoint near Shakar Dara late Saturday night after which forces imposed curfew and carried out a search operation.

Ahmed said the operation extended to Chuprial and continued till morning during which one soldier was wounded and six militants were killed.

Despite a major military operation against the Taliban in Swat in 2009, sporadic violence still occurs underscoring the fragility of the army's gain.
