Panic hits jet passengers as landing gear fails

More than 100 passengers aboard a domestic flight in Saudi Arabia went through a state of panic for nearly 45 minutes after the aircraft could not land because of wheel failure, a newspaper reported on Tuesday.

The Saudia plane was en route to the capital Riyadh from the western Red Sea port of Jeddah when the pilot reported the fault to Riyadh airport.

“The passengers felt there was something wrong……when they learned of the problem, they panicked and some of them started to scream,” the Saudi Arabic language daily Sabq said.

“After nearly 45 minutes in air, the pilot managed to bring the aircraft down after the landing gear was repaired in air…passengers said they had been through the most difficult moments in their life.”
