Flames shot from an engine of a holiday jet packed with 180 British nationals following an explosion in the engine shortly after the plane took off from Ibiza airport.
Passengers suffered panic attacks as the captain of the Manchester-bound Jet2 flight announced they would make an emergency landing, reports The Sun.
However, the jet stayed in the air for 77-long minutes before finally landing at Palma on Majorca, thus averting a major air tragedy.
One passenger posted online: ‘Most terrifying moment of my life! So glad to be home safe in the Isle of Man.’
Another wrote: ‘I’m not the best flyer anyway but when I heard those noises and looked out the window to see flames coming out of the engine, I can honestly say I was terrified!’
