Thousands of people are streaming back to historic Thatta in southern Pakistan after authorities managed to hold off floodwaters that threatened to inundate it, a rare piece of good news after a month of devastation in the country.
But thousands of others from neighbouring towns that were not so lucky complained about the shortage of food and water as they camped out in a vast Muslim graveyard on a hill on the outskirts of Thatta city.
Hordes of people ran after vehicles distributing food and water near the graveyard, a chaotic scene that left many flood victims, especially the old and infirm, with nothing.
Authorities said they are trying to provide food and shelter to the hundreds of thousands of people camped out on the hill in Makli.
